The Author

My name is Thomas Baskerville, the awkward looking nerd to the left for those that prefer to put a face to a name. I’ve been working on these stories since I was back in high school as a hobby mostly, but always with the intention of someday becoming a successful published author.

I’ve always enjoyed creating interesting worlds with mechanics and history that greatly differ from our own, and so one day I just pen to paper. My initial use for these works was actually to improve my own spelling while also exercising my creativity. As a dyslexic I found that constant writing and forcing myself to repeatedly spell difficult words allowed me to build a list of words I’d memorised not as words themselves but as patterns of letters. When I converted to typing on a keyboard, I found my fingers memorising keystrokes of words I couldn’t spell out loud, meaning I was spelling using muscle memory instead of actively memorising how to spell certain words. This makes for the rather funny combination of me being able to touch type at speed and spell terrifying words such as ‘neighbour’ or ‘acknowledgement’ while tapping away, but the minute you ask me to spell my own surname out loud my brain melts. The key to this methods success was the motivation. Anyone can learn to spell if they just keep writing the same troublesome words over and over again but motivating oneself to do that isn’t easy. By linking such a task to my creativity, making stories instead of just brute force training, I wanted to continue, wanted to complete chapter after chapter.

As I continued to create these stories, I found myself wanting to share such works, and so I began dedicating more time and effort to them, to get them fully realised and structured. Because I apparently love making things difficult for myself, I began linking story concepts. Recurring characters and stories set in the same universe as others. Complex worlds that used my knowledge and fascination of science and fantasy. Suddenly I was constructing massively ambitious plotlines and multiple character concepts and arcs that were shaped by the universe, and in turn eventually began to shape the universe as well. These stories are the results of my work. While most of them have first drafts, my ability to write has improved over time, meaning most of them aren’t up to my current standards. My plan is of course to change that. When such works have met a certain standard, I’ll be putting them up on this website for others to read, critique, and hopefully enjoy until I eventually get them properly published.

All of the art on this site is currently AI generated until I find a better solution. I’m unfortunately no expert artist and since these books are still a work in progress the current art is a general glimpse into what I am imagining the results to be. I fully intend to use human created art for the finished products.
